METU Confucius Institute Showcases Chinese Culture at Far East Festival
On October 18, the Confucius Institute at Middle East Technical University (METU CI) was invited to the Far East Festival, organized by Team Eventify, bringing an immersive Chinese cultural experience to Ankara residents. METU CI set up four themed booths: Chinese Tea Art and Tasting, Peking Opera Mask and Chinese Fan Painting, Traditional Chinese Sachet Crafts, and Chinese Cultural Showcase, attracting numerous visitors to explore and participate.
METU CI teachers worked collaboratively, dressed in traditional attire, enthusiastically introducing Chinese culture and arts. The festival was bustling, with visitors actively engaging at all booths. At the tea booth, guests brewed and tasted tea while learning about its history and etiquette. In the Peking opera and fan painting area, participants painted opera characters and festive designs, showcasing creativity and cultural exchange. At the sachet booth, visitors crafted fragrant sachets under guidance, appreciating the finesse of Chinese traditional handicrafts. The cultural showcase featured paper-cutting, calligraphy, and Chinese knots, while the Hanfu try-on session proved especially popular, allowing visitors to dress in traditional clothing and take photos.
To ensure a smooth event, all teachers attended preparatory meetings and venue inspections ahead of time. Through careful planning and teamwork, METU CI presented well-organized, interactive booths, demonstrating professionalism and passion for cultural promotion.
The festival not only offered Ankara residents an up-close experience of Chinese culture but also strengthened cultural ties between China and Türkiye. Through such immersive activities, the Institute continues to promote Chinese language and culture, fostering mutual understanding and friendly relations between the two countries.
